About Lovcover

Lovcover (lovcover.net) is an independent website for people who love what's between the covers: readers who want to know where their favorite stories came from, and writers who want to tell stories of their own.

What we publish

  • Fairy Tales: the original versions of classic tales from the Brothers Grimm, Charles Perrault, Hans Christian Andersen and Giambattista Basile, explained clearly, with what changed over time and why.
  • World Folklore: legends and folktales from Japan, the Arab world, South Asia, West Africa, China and the Celtic lands, including the great love legends of Punjab and the mountain legends of northern Pakistan.
  • Writing Craft: practical guides with examples and exercises on structure, character, dialogue, point of view and publishing.
  • Books & Reading: reading lists and habits for curious readers.

Why Lovcover exists

Most people know fairy tales from films. The older versions are stranger, darker and far more interesting, and folk traditions outside Europe are rarely explained well in English. We want to make these stories easy to understand, accurate and enjoyable, and to show writers how they can draw on them.

How we work

Every article is researched from published editions of the original tales and reputable reference works, then reviewed and edited before publication. We correct errors promptly. Read our full editorial policy.

Who we are

Lovcover is run by Lovcover Editorial Team, a small team of readers and writers who have spent years reading folklore, myth and fiction. [Add a short personal bio here: who you are, where you are based, and your experience with books, writing or folklore.]
